LAST DAY TO REGISTER TO VOTE FOR ELECTION DAY IS OCTOBER 9TH 2018 IN PERSON OR MUST BE POSTMARKED.

It would be nice if our great state made it easier to exercise our constitutional right to vote, but alas, we are here. Here following is an attempt to put voter information all in one place so you and anyone else who needs this information can participate in this wonderful democracy. Enjoy!

You are eligible to register to vote if you are:

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Resident of the county
  • At least 17 yrs old and 10mo or 18 on Election Day
  • Convicted of a Felony BUT you may be eligible to vote if you have completed your sentence, probation, and parole, AND not be declared by a court with probate jurisdiction be either totally or partially mentally incapacitated without the right to vote.

The easiest way to do it is to go to your DPS office, pick up voter registration form, leave, fill it out, and stick in the mail.

All voters who register to vote in Texas must provide a Texas driver’s license number or personal identification number issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety. If you don’t have such a number, simply provide the last four digits of your social security number. If you don’t have a social security number, you need to state that fact.

Voter ID: The “Fun” Part. You need ID to vote in Texas, So you can use…

IMPORTANT!! An acceptable form of photo identification may be expired no more than four years before being presented for voter qualification at the polling place.

• Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
• Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
• Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
• Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
• United States Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph
• United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph
• United States Passport (book or card)

“…For voters aged 18-69, the acceptable form of photo identification may be expired no more than four years before being presented for voter qualification at the polling place.”

Here is a list of the supporting forms of ID that can be presented if the voter does not possess one of the forms of acceptable photo ID and cannot reasonably obtain one:

• copy or original of a government document that shows the voter’s name and an address, including the voter’s voter registration certificate;
• copy of or original current utility bill;
• copy of or original bank statement;
• copy of or original government check;
• copy of or original paycheck; or
• copy of or original of (a) a certified domestic (from a U.S. state or territory) birth certificate or (b) a document confirming birth admissible in a court of law which establishes the voter’s identity (which may include a foreign birth document).

After presenting one of the forms of supporting ID listed above, the voter must execute a Reasonable Impediment Declaration which will be there at the polling location.

• Birth certificate
• For U.S. citizens born abroad—Certificate of Report of Birth, Consular Report of Birth, issued by the U.S. Department of State
• U.S. Certificate of Citizenship or Certificate of Naturalization
• U.S. Department of Justice Immigration and Naturalization Service U.S. Citizen ID Card
2. Documentation verify your Identity
• Texas driver license or Texas identification card not expired more than 2 years
• Proof of citizenship will be required if not previously established

• I-94 stamped Sec. 208 Asylee with photo

IMPORTANT NAMES MUST MATCH ON DOCUMENTS, ID’S, AND APPLICATION.

Marriage license
Divorce decree
Original or certified copy of a revised birth certificate
Court ordered name change
Department of State Health Services marriage verification letter

3. Be eligible to vote in Texas. Bring your voter registration card if register there.
4. Be a Texas resident
5. Be 17 years and 10 months or older
